To save a free image as desktop wallpaper
choose the appropriate screen resolution for your monitor
select the desktop wallpaper image by clicking on it
a larger picture of the image you clicked will appear
right click the large image with your mouse
a menu will appear
on the menu select "Set as Background"
then you are done!

Please Note: If you forget to go to the larger image the resulting background will be blurry. So be sure that you are on the larger image before you save it.
